Oklahoma Veteran Benefits 2026: Property Tax Exemptions and Military Retired Pay Tax

The state benefits Oklahoma gives veterans and their surviving spouses: property tax exemptions, how the state taxes military retired pay, and other benefits, each with who qualifies, the amount, how to apply and the official source.

Oklahoma fully exempts the homestead (its whole fair cash value) and household personal property of honorably discharged veterans whom the VA certifies as 100% permanently disabled from service, and of their surviving spouses; the unremarried surviving spouse of a service member who died in the line of duty also gets a full homestead exemption. There is no income test, and both exemptions can move to a new Oklahoma homestead bought in the same year. Military retired pay is 100% excluded from Oklahoma income tax, and other benefits include a sales tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans, $5 vehicle registration at a 50%+ rating, free driver licenses for 100% disabled veterans, discounted lifetime hunting/fishing licenses and seven state veterans homes.
