Ohio Property Tax Relief for Seniors 2026
Every statewide property tax break Ohio offers older homeowners that we could confirm on an official page: the type of relief, the age and income limits, the amount, how to apply and the deadline.
Ohio's main senior property tax relief is the homestead exemption for homeowners aged 65 or older. It is means-tested: for tax year 2026 it equals the taxes on $29,700 of the home's market value, for households with Ohio modified AGI of $41,000 or less. Since 2025, counties may also adopt a local-option homestead exemption that doubles the credit, and seniors 65+ with income under $100,000 get a $50 state income tax credit. We found no statewide senior assessment freeze, circuit-breaker credit, tax deferral or rebate program in official Ohio sources. (sources)
