Kansas Property Tax Relief for Seniors 2026
Every statewide property tax break Kansas offers older homeowners that we could confirm on an official page: the type of relief, the age and income limits, the amount, how to apply and the deadline.
Kansas has no age-based homestead exemption or assessment freeze; seniors instead get state-paid refunds. For 2025 taxes: the K-40SVR 'freeze' refund for homeowners 65+ with household income of $58,041 or less and a base-year home value of $350,000 or less refunds any tax increase over the base year; the SAFESR credit (K-40PT) refunds 75% of property tax for homeowners 65+ with income of $25,380 or less; and the Homestead Refund (K-40H) pays up to $700 to homeowners 55+ with income of $43,389 or less. A household can file only one of the three each year, and all homeowners get $75,000 of appraised value exempt from the statewide school levy. (sources)
