Georgia Property Tax Relief for Seniors 2026

Every statewide property tax break Georgia offers older homeowners that we could confirm on an official page: the type of relief, the age and income limits, the amount, how to apply and the deadline.

Georgia's statewide senior property tax relief is limited and mostly income-tested. There is a $4,000 county exemption at 65+ and a school-tax exemption of up to $10,000 of assessed value at 62+, both with a $10,000 income limit that excludes retirement income up to the Social Security maximum. A floating inflation-proof county exemption is available at 62+ for household income up to $30,000. Larger senior exemptions and valuation freezes are adopted county by county, so the biggest relief often depends on the county. The DOR homestead guidance lists no statewide senior circuit-breaker credit, rebate or deferral program. (sources)
