The Freelancer Tax Estimator extension runs entirely in your browser. Your financial data never leaves your computer. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of your personal or financial information.
What Data We Collect
None. We do not collect any personal information, financial data, or usage analytics.
Data You Enter
All data you enter into the extension (income amounts, expenses, filing status, state selection) is:
- Stored only in your browser's local storage (Chrome's
chrome.storage.localAPI) - Never transmitted to any external servers
- Never shared with QuantCalc or any third parties
- Accessible only to you on your local machine
PRO License Keys
If you purchase the PRO upgrade ($4.99), you will receive a license key. This key is:
- Stored locally in your browser's storage
- Validated within the extension (client-side only)
- Never transmitted to our servers after initial purchase
The license key purchase is processed by Creem.io, our payment processor. See their privacy policy for payment data handling.
Permissions
The extension requests only one permission:
Storage Permission
Used to save your calculation inputs and PRO license key (if purchased) in your browser's local storage. This allows the extension to remember your last calculation when you reopen it.
What we DON'T request:
- No host permissions (cannot read or modify any web pages)
- No network access (cannot send data to external servers)
- No tabs permission (cannot see your browsing history)
- No cookies permission
Third-Party Services
Creem.io (Payment Processor)
If you purchase the PRO upgrade, payment processing is handled by Creem.io. They collect payment information (credit card, billing address, email) necessary to process the transaction. We do not have access to your payment details.

No Analytics or Tracking
We do not use:
- Google Analytics or any analytics services
- Tracking pixels or cookies
- Error reporting or crash analytics
- A/B testing or user behavior tracking
Data Security
Since your data never leaves your browser, it is as secure as your local Chrome profile. We recommend:
- Keeping Chrome and the extension updated
- Using a strong password for your Chrome profile if syncing across devices
- Clearing stored data from the extension settings if you share your computer
Data Deletion
To delete your data:
- Clear all stored data: Remove the extension from Chrome. All stored data is deleted when you uninstall.
- Clear stored inputs: Open Chrome DevTools (F12), go to Application → Storage → Local Storage → chrome-extension://[extension-id] and clear all entries.
Children's Privacy
The extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the "Last Updated" date at the top will reflect the change. Material changes will be communicated via the Chrome Web Store listing.
