Advisor scenario templates

Five pre-built archetypes covering the most common retirement-planning workflows. Load any one of them as a starting point for the forecast comparison tool, then adjust to fit a specific client. Saves 20–40 minutes of data entry per plan.

FIRE bridge to 65

Early retiree, age 50, drawing down on a balanced portfolio for 15 years until Medicare and Social Security kick in. The pre-Medicare gap years are the most failure-prone window in early-retirement planning.

Age: 50 → 95
Balance: $2.0M
Spend: $7,000 / mo (4.2% real)
Allocation: Balanced 60/40

Roth conversion ladder, ages 55–65

Pre-retiree (or early retiree) using a Roth conversion ladder during low-income gap years. Tests whether the plan survives the conversion-induced tax drag.

Age: 55 → 95
Balance: $1.5M
Spend: $5,500 / mo (4.4% real)
Allocation: Balanced 60/40

ACA cliff optimization

Early retiree managing MAGI under the ACA's 400% FPL cliff. Lower withdrawal rate combined with mid-equity allocation; the analysis quantifies how much margin the plan retains under each forecast.

Age: 58 → 95
Balance: $1.8M
Spend: $4,800 / mo (3.2% real)
Allocation: Balanced 60/40
Open in forecast compare →

Tax-torpedo Roth glide

Pre-RMD retiree at 67 using aggressive early Roth conversions to flatten the tax torpedo when Social Security starts at 70 and RMDs at 73. Higher-than-typical withdrawal during conversion years.

Age: 67 → 95
Balance: $1.2M
Spend: $6,500 / mo (6.5% real)
Allocation: Balanced 60/40
Open in forecast compare →

Survivor / widowhood projection

Single widowed retiree, 75. Conservative 40/60 allocation, modest withdrawal, 20-year horizon. The classic late-retirement longevity question; conservative allocation tightens the spread across forecasts.

Age: 75 → 95
Balance: $800K
Spend: $3,500 / mo (5.3% real)
Allocation: Conservative 40/60

How to use a template

  1. Pick the closest archetype above and click "Open in forecast compare." The form pre-fills with the template's default inputs.
  2. Adjust the inputs to match the actual client (current age, balance, withdrawal rate, etc.).
  3. Optionally fill in firm name and advisor name in the white-label-PDF section before running.
  4. Click "Run comparison across 6 forecasts." Six parallel simulations take ~5–15 seconds.
  5. Click "Save plan…" to persist the inputs to your browser; recall later from the saved-plans page.
  6. Click "Download client PDF" or "Download both as one PDF" (client + 4-page methodology supplement).

Want a different archetype? Email [email protected] with the scenario you're seeing in client work; we'll add it to the template library if it's a common workflow.
